Screened-In Porch~ remembering stories, sharing life

Standin' on the corner in Pensacola, FL, such a fine sight to see!

About my profile pic, my niece, Heather commented:  "Is this for real? or some kind of photoshop thing?"

My response...an interesting story, I believe, so I'll share it with you!

Heather, It's real!

Years ago, your Uncle John and I were in Pensacola and happened upon this intersection.  We took pictures, of course, and I've always remembered how cool it was to me that these two streets crossed somewhere-  Recently I've gotten into Instagram, began following a gal who lives in P'cola, asked her if she was close to this...and she made it a mission to photograph the sign for me.  Turns out, because she went there, she found something she was on the lookout for.  Here's her explanation from her flikker page:

Photo of the Day: from Anniebluesky

Karma. That is what this photo is about.

A woman that lives in Kansas, contacted me on Instagram and wanted to know if I could take a photo of this sign for her. She lived here as a child and her maiden name is Davis and her married name is Hewitt. So I told her I would. While parking the car we (as in Nikki and I...we were out shopping)...we spotted a Pelican in Paradise!! They are sometimes hard to find. Had I not taken this picture for the lady in Kansas, I probably would have never found this one! So I'll be going back with my big girl camera to take that photo!!

That is karma in action.

I'm not so sure about Karma...but I think it's cool.  And I really like my profile pic.

Jesus Calling makes me think

Thought provoking Jesus Calling devo yesterday:
"Come to Me and rest, Give your mind a break from its habitual judging.  You form judgments about this situation, that situation, this person, that person, yourself, even the weather-  as if judging were your main function in life.  But I created you first and foremost to know Me and to live in rich communication with Me.  When you  become preoccupied with passing judgment, you usurp My role.

Relate to Me as creature to Creator, sheep to Shepherd, subject to King, clay to Potter.  Allow Me to have My way in your life.  Rather than evaluating My ways with you, accept them thankfully.  The intimacy I offer you is not an invitation to act as if you were My equal.  Worship Me as King of kings while walking hand in hand with Me down the path of Life."

It's never occurred to me that I judge situations and circumstances in my life...this one is good, this one is bad, etc...and that judging steals rest from me... Hmmmmm.....I reckon we should indeed "Be still and know that He is God."   Any thoughts?

Relax and have some fun!

Up at the butt-crack of dawn planning to prepare teens this week to minister to kids next week.  Anticipating an overwhelmingly busy day and, once again, Jesus Calling blows me away:

         July 26~
Relax and let Me lead you through this day.  I have everything under control.  My control.  You tend to peer anxiously into the day that is before you, trying         to figure out what to do, and when.  Meanwhile, the phone or the doorbell rings, and you have to reshuffle your plans.  All that planning ties you up in                 knots and distracts you from Me.  Attentiveness to Me is not only for your quiet time, but for all your time.  As you look to Me, I show you what to do now           and next.

Vast quantities of time and energy are wasted in obsessive planning.  When you let Me direct your steps, you are set free to enjoy Me and to find what I             have prepared for you this day.

Nope....nothing's random with God...not even the page order of my devotional-
